Using a high-fire porcelain clay body from Tucker's Pottery Supply (in Richmond Hill, ON), my work is mostly wheel-thrown and finished with a distinct, minimalist approach. It can be said that a multitude of influences inform my process from start to finish, including the studio pottery movement of early 20th century England and the Zen Buddhist tea ceremony work of 16th century Japan.
All of the work is biscuit-fired to 980*C and glaze-fired in an electric kiln (oxidation environment) to 1260*C, using glazes (lead, barium, and manganese-free) that I mix myself, to their maturing temperature for food safety.
